Silicon Valley—the dream home for tech enthusiasts and developers who want to make it big. This is where the tech giants such as Google, Facebook, and Apple cast their vast shadow over the land. It’s almost magical to be residing in that shadow. People are drawn from all over to create incredible apps, tech, and ideas that govern our way of living! However, living in a crowded area such as Silicon Valley can be a hassle. That’s why we have put together the best life hacks to help you optimize your time and help you to become the next big thing. Let’s get started.
Wim Hof Method
Let’s start off with having a hack that will help you increase productivity, heighten focus, enhance your creativity, and have faster recovery from injury. The Wim Hof Method’s long term goal is to help you stay strong and healthy. It consists of three powerful pillars. Cold therapy, deep breathing, and commitment.
The routine starts when you wake up. You’re ultimately going to shock your body into releasing epinephrine and it starts with breathing. Begin with taking about 30 to 40 deep breaths until you get a light-headed feeling. Following that, exhale all the air in your lungs and hold it for as long as you can. Then suck in a nice breath of air and hold that in as long as you can too. Repeat this until you feel a buzzed feeling in your body. This is when your body is creating more alkaline blood and increasing your tolerance to pain. You will also receive a boost in your metabolism while decreasing inflammation. Once you start feeling good, go and take yourself a cold shower. I know, nobody likes it, but every successful person has a morning ritual.
Once you get your epinephrine going, you will feel ready to go! Your body and mind will be ready to take on your daily activities.
We all know the San Francisco area is crowded when you’re on your way to do the things you do. That’s cool. More people means more friends! It just makes it harder to get your car around let alone trying to park. After you take your cold shower and feel in your zone, it would be best to hop on your Spot Hero app to find a great parking spot for where you are heading. Getting frustrated while trying to park for 30 minutes can change the course for the rest of your day, so don’t let that happen!
Also, not only can you reserve a spot, but you can get it for much cheaper. This helps with the hassle of having to find a parking spot and having to pay half your days’ pay for it. If you find yourself in a pickle, Spot Hero will allow you to extend your parking time, so you don’t have to walk all the way back to pay for more.
AppBlock – Stay Focused
We all try to strive for a productive entrepreneurial day, but sometimes YouTube or Facebook can really get in the way of that. AppBlock allows you to set limits to your media binging. Just block out a certain time of day that you would like to stay focused and that’s it. This level of self-control is crucial to keep your brain power going towards your success in Silicon Valley.
For when you just can’t resist the social media, I recommend finding a great entrepreneurial website that inspires you. This way you focus on forward thinking media as opposed to the useless things you might see on Facebook.
If you’re at your maximum productivity on the task at hand, you might forget to stock up on your essentials. A perfect example would be waiting until the very last minute to go grocery shopping. Thanks to the app Instacart, you can have someone get your groceries for you and have them delivered to your place. This has helped so many people maintain productivity without sacrificing so much time to grocery shop.
The same goes for Google Express. Easily order products that you need delivered (batteries, paper towels, shampoo, etc.) and have it delivered same day or even overnight.
Headspace – Meditation
This can be used at any time of the day that you have free. Headspace is the best app I have used to meditate and center myself on my goals. There are hundreds of themed sessions that range from stress to sleep. When you’re super busy, you can even have short meditation sessions.
Meditation has been shown to dramatically reduce stress, maintain focus, and boost compassion among peers. If you have never meditated before, headspace will take care of you through their “meditation basics”. These basics will walk you through a meditation routine. This is a serious life hack to maintain your sanity in such a hard-working city.
Well, there you have it. Some of the best life hacks that you can use in Silicon Valley or anywhere else for that matter. Just be sure that if you create the next big thing, give a shout out to this article!
